On January 26, 1897, at Kundukal, Raja Bhaskara Sethupathi. Raja of Ramanad welcomed Swami Vivikenadana, an Indian Hindu monk and the primary disciple of the 19th-century saint Ramakrishna, as he was returning to India following his devotional discourse at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago. At that location, a memorial was erected in honor of the address. The memorial is open to the public for visits, although admission is charged. The bus stop at Rameshwaram is 15 KMS away from the Vivekananda Memorial Centre.
